Abstract
The environmental problem currently threatens the sustainability of natural resources due to the excessive consumption practices that are being developed. The World Health Organization is especially concerned about the way in which the human being relates to the environment. The objective of the research was to assess the implementation of a design of virtual learning environments, with gamification techniques to promote the development of ecological awareness in students from 14 to 17 years old, the work methodology was mixed. Now, the sample consisted of 23 students, who made up the experimental group and 20 students who are part of the control group using the simple random probability sampling method, and 3 teachers, one from the seventh grade, another from the eighth and the last of the ninth grade. A survey was applied to them that sought to measure and determine the level of environmental awareness that students and teachers have; The results showed that the games as part of the didactic planning and management in the pedagogical processes in the classroom, contribute to the improvement of their cognitive and learning skills. This proves that the development of ecological awareness can be promoted by implementing virtual learning environments. Therefore, it is suggested to articulate in the PEI (Institutional educational project), policies and projects related to gamification and virtual learning environments.
