Abstract

Introduction: The relationship between scientific evidence and sanitary practices allows the implementation of policies in patient safety. General Objective: Describe access, dissemination, and use of scientific knowledge about patient safety in the post-pandemic period by health teams in Corrientes capital hospitals. Method: Quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional. Population: health personnel who agreed to participate. Data collection was carried out using a validated instrument. Variables: types and uses of knowledge about patient safety; main barriers in obtaining it; training needs. Results: 43 people were interviewed. Regarding theoretical knowledge in patient safety, 69.77% reported sufficient; in practical knowledge, 65.12% indicated they came from their work experience; in technical-instrumental skills, 55.81% perceived having them; in psychosocial skills, 69.77% indicated sufficient; 59% said they obtain knowledge from patient contact; 20% reported scarce practical knowledge; minimal technical-instrumental skills, and few experiential ones from interaction with patients. Regarding the use of knowledge for care or treatment, 70% reported extensive use; 65.12% emphasized adherence to standards and regulations; 51% highlighted research to deepen knowledge in patient safety; 18.84% obtained relevant information in professional network training. Only 11.59% mentioned universities as a useful source of information on patient safety. As barriers to knowledge, 26.32% considered patient safety a complex discipline; 21.05% recognized the scarcity and preliminary nature of scientific information; 29.82% cited institutional work misaligned with patient safety; 22.81% mentioned ineffective communication. Conclusions: Health teams report sufficient knowledge and skills in patient safety to improve care and minimize risks. Main barriers are organizational.
