Abstract

Introduction: For a long time, physical activity in older adults was rarely recommended or prescribed by health professionals as a preventive strategy; however, it is now considered one of the pillars for maintaining a healthy life and functional quality. Objective: To describe the results of the online implementation of the PASE (Physical Activity Scale for the Elderly) questionnaire as a tool for quantifying physical activity in older adults (OA) in northeastern Argentina (NEA). Methods:ntitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted. Variables related to health and well-being were defined, and the digitized questionnaire, called PASE, was used to collect data. Results: A total of 570 older adults participated, with a mean age of 68.6 years; 57.8% of whom were female. Of these, 47.7% engage in physical activity frequently (between 5 and 7 days a week), with the majority preferring aerobic activity (walking/cycling), followed by light sports (water aerobics/Pilates), and a minority engaging in muscle strength training. Conclusion: The results of the PASE questionnaire show that muscle strength training requires supervision and that most respondents report their daily tasks, walking, and housework as their main physical activities.
