Abstract
Pregnancy loss represents a devastating emotional experience for women and their families, profoundly affecting various aspects of mental health. Despite its frequency, this loss remains insufficiently visible and addressed, limiting empathetic support from professionals and the social environment. The objective of this study was to describe the psychological impact and coping strategies employed by nursing student mothers who experienced pregnancy loss in Asunción during 2025. A qualitative, descriptive, and phenomenological design was used to explore the psychological experiences in depth. The sample consisted of three nursing students selected through purposive sampling. A semi-structured interview guide was used, and thematic analysis of the data allowed for the identification of emerging categories. The results demonstrate the presence of anxiety, sadness, and guilt. The importance of family and spiritual support as the main coping strategies was highlighted, in the face of the lack of empathy perceived in the hospital environment. The study concludes that there is a need to strengthen mental health training and access to resources for effective support during this period of grief.
