Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) is radically transforming higher education and researcher training. This editorial examines how AI has become a fundamental tool for personalizing learning, strengthening research processes, and developing critical competencies in future researchers. The main applications of AI in research training are analyzed, from personalized tutoring systems to assistants for scientific production. However, this technological revolution poses significant ethical challenges related to equity, data privacy, and the digital divide. It is concluded that the responsible integration of AI in higher education requires a balance between technological innovation and humanistic training, maintaining critical thinking and ethical commitment as central axes of research training.
