Abstract

Social and academic networks have become an option to increase the visibility of scientific publications, forming an alternative to enhance visibility, through the exchange of scientific information between researchers. By considering open content platforms, researchers and academics can connect and develop collaborative exercises with peers, co-authors and experts in the related discipline. Within the social networks they have LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube or Facebook or blogs. The types of academic networks include Google Scholar, which is a web search engine for academic full texts, ResearchGate, which is a professional and academic social network, among others. Social networking services offer possibilities to improve the visibility of research, not only to disseminate and share the results of studies, but also to exchange views on research- related topics with other academics and professionals.
