Abstract
Teacher training was not always seen as an important means for the development of the country. Only because of socio-economic and social problems that occurred, teacher training could begin to develop through the educational reform that emerged.This paper presents an investigation about the educational reform of teacher training in Paraguay and Chile. The purpose is to analyze the history of teacher education and its role in the Paraguayan and Chilean educational reform. In addition, the effects of educational reform on teacher training are investigated. In the first part the history of teacher training in Paraguay will be presented and where the training is being developed. The second part describes the beginning of teacher training in the nineteenth century and how it evolved by emphasizing some laws that emerged in the educational reform. In conclusion, the similarities and differences of the educational reform in Paraguay and Chile are analyzed.
